According to the report issued by the International Energy Agency - the accelerated growth of global renewable energy power generation——
Accelerated growth of global renewable energy power generation
A recent report on the renewable energy market released by the International Energy Agency pointed out that the global photovoltaic power generation, wind power and other renewable energy power generation accelerated, and the new installed capacity set a new record in 2021, and is expected to further increase in 2022. As countries increase their efforts to deal with climate change and accelerate the transformation of energy structure, the competitiveness of renewable energy power generation will be further enhanced and become one of the most important power sources in the world.
According to the report, despite the adverse impact of rising costs and supply chain bottlenecks, the installed capacity of global renewable energy power generation will increase by 6% in 2021, or 295 GW. This growth is mainly driven by China and the EU: 53.13 GW of photovoltaic power generation and 46.95 GW of wind power generation were added in China; The installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in the EU increased by 36 GW, an increase of nearly 30%.
The International Energy Agency predicts that the installed capacity of global renewable energy power generation will increase by at least 8% in 2022. The analysis points out that the accelerated expansion of renewable energy capacity, on the one hand, is due to the security advantages of renewable energy, and some economies are taking comprehensive measures to increase the proportion of renewable energy; On the other hand, most economies hope to accelerate the post epidemic economic recovery and promote the transformation of clean energy. For example, the EU said in its recovery plan that it would further relax financial restrictions on renewable energy projects in member countries. France has previously proposed the "France 2030" plan, which will continue to increase the proportion of renewable energy, especially wind power.
"The development of the energy market in the past few months has once again proved the important role of renewable energy in improving energy security, reducing carbon emissions and other fields." Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, said.
According to the forecast, in 2022, the global photovoltaic power generation is expected to reach 60% of the new generation of renewable energy, followed by wind power and hydropower. Although the cost of PV and wind power installation will rise this year and next, renewable energy still has greater advantages over the soaring prices of natural gas and coal.
The International Energy Agency calls on more countries and regions to actively formulate policies to promote the transformation of the energy structure. Birol pointed out that to provide appropriate incentives to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy projects and improve the approval efficiency of relevant departments, these measures will help all parties to address the current energy security challenges, and also an important path to promote green economic recovery.
